I was most surprised to see that I was so capable of caring for MYSELF. Brigitte was my first midwife, but I was on my third pregnancy, I had two previous hospital births. Obviously the close care and attention that I received from Brigitte and her assistants was unbelievably helpful and made me feel so comfortable, but I was most surprised to see how much they trusted ME! Just the little things they trusted me to do, like test my own urine, weigh myself and take my own GBS test made me feel like they saw me as a capable, intelligent person, and not just another drone of a patient, riding an ever rotating conveyor belt of health care. Brigitte made me feel like my thoughts and opinions were valid.
I have already sent many friends and family Brigitte’s way. I have ranted and raved about the wonderful, courteous, dignified, safe and peaceful birth experience that I had under Brigitte’s care. At this point, no one in my life needs to be convinced of the wonderful care I received, because everyone already knows!
